Q: What is your name?
A: Haley Chapman.
Q: What program and year of study are you in at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û²éѯ College?
A: I am in enrolled in the Pharmacy Technician Certificate Program and am about to enter my third month of classes.
Q: Which campus do you primarily study at?
A: The Kelowna Campus.
Q: What drew you to that program?
A: I have been working as a Pharmacy Assistant for five years now and I wanted to further my knowledge and capabilities within the Pharmacy. I’ve fallen in love with my career and when I heard about the program being offered so close to home, I jumped at the opportunity. The program itself is less than a year which is super convenient!
Q: Why did you choose to study at OC?
A: I’ve known a lot of people who have studied here at OC and it just seemed like the perfect place to learn! I was first involved with OC back in middle school when I volunteered at Camp OC, with some of the kids camps. Walking through the halls made me see college as an exciting experience that I wanted to take part in.
Q: What are you looking forward to during your time OC?
A: Collaborating with my classmates and learning new skills. Getting to meet new people and work together has been really rewarding. I am excited to continue learning from my peers and look forward to the rest of my time here as a student.
Q: Where is home for you?
A: Here in Kelowna. I was born here and have lived here my whole life. I have a lot of family all across Canada, from Ladysmith, B.C., to P.E.I., but I’m thankful to have many of them here in town with me.
Q: Where are you the happiest?
A: I am happiest when I can just relax and be with my loved ones. Whether its watching TV with my partner, playing video games with my sister, running around with my dogs, or talking to my parents, I feel at ease being with the people I care about.
Q: Anything else you’d like to share?
A: I’m really glad that I made the decision to go to college. Thanks to the support of my family, friends and coworkers, I’ve had so much fun entering this next phase of my life.
Pharmacy Technician Certificate
The Pharmacy Technician Certificate program consists of 26-weeks of theory/lab classes and 360 hours of practicums over a 12-month completion time. The program prepares students for employment as pharmacy technicians with the necessary technical and clerical skills required in community and hospital pharmacies.
